ABOUT subrosa.work
Quietly curious.
Deliberately useful.
An independent development studio, taking ideas from “what if” to something you can use.
One conversation.
The whole product.
subrosa.work began as a place for the websites, applications and tools I build, and the experiments that happen along the way. That hands-on approach is still at the centre of the work.
I work across the whole product: the problem, the interface, the code and the details that make it feel right. Sometimes that means a full application. Sometimes it’s a useful business tool. The goal is the same: make something useful, and make it well.
- Direct communication with the person building it
- Clear scope and agreed deliverables
- Design and functionality shaped around business needs
- Considered testing, handover and support arrangements
UNDER THE ROSE
A little meaning.
A lot of quiet work.
Sub rosa is Latin for “under the rose”, a phrase associated with privacy and things shared in confidence. Here, it is a nod to the quiet work behind a working product.
The discarded sketches. The late fixes. The details you might never notice, but would miss if they weren’t there.
